Caithness mini and junior teams in Horse and Pony Care competition

Ashleigh Campbell and her team hosted the north event of the Pony Club Area 1 Horse and Pony Care competition at Castle View Stables on the outskirts of Wick.

Caithness Pony Club had two mini teams, one of which was a mixed team with one Caithness Pony Club and two Orkney Pony Club members. The club was represented by one team in the junior competition.

The mini team comprising Caysie Sinclair, Rachel MacGregor and Hannah Sutherland were placed fourth, and the mixed team of Darcey Alexander and Orkney members came eighth.

The topics for the mini competition were colours, feeding, grooming your pony, hoof care, pony at grass, learning theory, points of the pony, pony health, tack and tack cleaning.

The junior team placed sixth. Members were Erica Pottinger, Ella Budge and Emmie Maclean.

The topics in the junior competition were feeding, grooming your pony, farrier, pasture and worming, learning theory, equine first aid, health, tack and bits and travelling and loading.
